Visit any Departmental Stores and what do you see.?,the way things are stacked in rows after rows every item packed perfect no matter how you load them to your cart to take it anywhere. This is Packtech or the new technical textiles division in this area to India. Many times I wonder if they could reduce packing cost and sell their products cheap. To me it's OK but not to all those who like to see the packing first and product next.
A good product is well packed and has all the information needed to know what you need to know of the item of your choice.A friend of mine gave me a bottle of Scotch he brought for me as a gift from England. It was ' THE FAMOUS GROUSE ' a bottle so simple to look at with just a bird under the name.Every information that I wanted to know was in fine print so well printed on a paper with a Gold border.I compared this with our famous local brand and some how I felt that if we have to sell our products.Textiles made of man-made fibres/filament yarns and used in packaging are in great demand. The Rs 14,000-crore market for technical textiles packing, more widely known as pack tech expected to grow to some Rs.26,000 crore in just a couple of years.Pack tech includes many flexible packing material for packing our own food items in plastic woven bags, jute bags, our tea bags, jumbo bags to take for example cotton from cotton fields, other bulk items of sorts we see at our stores. The crude packing which has some risks in our traditional packing is now a thing of the past. The demand is expected to grow year after year,we also import several packing materials. There are over 50 Textile mills run by Govt of India but none of them are equiped to produce pack tech. Will the Ministry of Textiles give an explanation for this failure.
With each Textile Minister coming and going things are going not as expected due to lack of good corporate planning and good technicians. There are many work shops on Technical Textiles but there is not a single school in Technical Textiles in India, let alone a University.
