Seat Belt.?

Seat belts no, I feel uncomfortable said my wife,as we were driving in the Ghat section of west coast Highway 17.The road was super and so was the rain in this month of late June.It was impossible for me to convince my wife the importance of Seat Belt. The rain was like not cats and dogs but horses and elephants. We could hardly see just around 30 feet from our car,the cars from the opposite direction were coming with their head lights on but it was those cars and small transport vehicles of over 10 to 20 years old that were coming with out their head lights on and that was my fear while overtaking any car going at slow speeds perhaps with a less experienced driver in front of my car.We came across a huge truck covered with shining cloth and my wife asked me why is that tar-pal painted.I told her it is not tar-pal but a material similar to the Seat Belt. She pulled out the sear belt and started feeling it as though she had not seen it.( While we were in USA my son would never start the car till she wore the seat belt.).

In India wearing seat belt is considered as a Hand Cuff and many people drive their car at high speeds with out wearing a seat belt and Motorbike is driven with out helmets as it disturbs their hair style or causes headache and itching and riding a motorbike with your head itching is equal to riding a motorbike with out wearing a helmet. The police just look the other way if there is a heavy traffic. This is India where all rules are made to be broken. My friend once said if all were to follow the law there would be unemployment problem increase, since no police,no court and other infrastructure would also be not necessary.

The point I was at was seat belt, when we reached home safe I took out a magazine where the death of Princes Diana was reported and where it was reported that if Princes Diana had worn the seat belt she would have been alive. This I showed it to my wife who carefully rear it but still not wearing the seat belt. Here in India it is only for the front seat occupiers so the back seat big shots are not penalised for not wearing the seat belt.

Seat Belt is one important product of technical textiles, the other are Truck Covers,Car truck coverings ( made of non wovens ),Seat Covers which is some times Knitted material,Cabin air filtration cloth ( Non Woven ),Air Bags,Parachutes,Boats ( Inflatable ),Air Balloons.Air Bags which I presume are not manufactured in India though it is consumed by all Car,Truck,Bus and even Aircraft manufacturers in India need it.We have more than 50 textile mills under the Govt of India managed undertaking styled by name 'National Textile Corporation' but our Ministry of Textiles dare not take up this hi-tech product as it requires a quality to match International Standards, air bags are mandatory for exports of cars made in India and this is imported conveniently and our Govt is also looking else where very conveniently, while it's mills are making even the workmen uniforms of sub standard conveniently.

The market share of Mobiltech textiles is projected at over Rs.1000 crore in 2003-2004 to over Rs.1500 crore in 2005-2006 and projected for 2007-2008 at over Rs.2000 and for 2014-2015 it is at 0ver Rs.3500 crore as per reports on this subject.

The growth in consumption of all Technical Textiles is getting doubled year after year and our Govt is also saying year after year that it would wake up and support this Industry but not one of it's mill is producing even seat covers for the Automobile Industry.
